Kenickie – Leeds Cockpit 7th October 1998
Kenickie and Lauren Laverne before she was famous…..I think this was 1998? Could’ve been the year before when they played here in May. My memory is hazy here. I first saw Kenickie at Reading Festival 1997 and was going to see them at Breeze Festival in Leeds in 1998 but we left before they came on as the festival was a shambles.
The Wedding Present – Morley Town Hall 9th October 2016
Playing town halls in small towns seems to be a thing in 2016. So when one of my favourite bands The Wedding Present announced they were playing my hometown then I’m there.
Savages Leeds Cockpit (upstairs venue) 28th July 2012
Here’s one I posted on the Burning Up Time forums which I stumbled upon – Don’t think Savages had played many gigs at this point and I also don’t think they had any material out.
It’s not very often I’d drag myself along to a gig for a band that I know fewer than 3 songs for (which is not as bad as it sounds as the band have yet to release their first album). But last night I’m glad I did.
Teleman – Leeds Wardrobe 2nd April 2016
First up support band NZCA Lines. Not a bad slab of electro pop. Every song seemed to start off pretty interesting and showed promised but then it just washed over me. I need to give them another go I think. Also, I thought Charlotte Hatherley was in this band but she was no where to be seen.
